Each student has individual needs. Eira High School for Adults seeks to develop maximum flexibility and versatility in the resources it offers students so that each individual student has the means to reach his or her goals. The resources offered include options for students from immigrant communities.

High School Courses in English

Eira High School offers the possibility of studying in English while learning Finnish. The program is for those who have already completed their lower secondary education. Entrance is by examination organised in the summer.

Students accepted into Eira High School complete a three-year programme of study comprising forty-four courses. On completion of these courses they first receive the lukion päättötodistus, the high school leaving certificate. This entitles them to complete their studies by taking the matriculation examination (ylioppilastutkinto) in Finnish. At the same time students at Eira High School can take a range of internationally recognised High School level qualifications administered by Cambridge University.

Lower Secondary Education in Finnish

Eiran aikuislukio offers a program of study designed for immigrants who have not yet completed their lower secondary education. This study option is taught in Finnish. Lukio Courses in Finnish

Eira High School is fortunate to be part of the largest aikuislukio in Finland. The Finnish lukio has a wideranging programme of courses leading to the matriculation exam. Tuition is in Finnish and information about lukio courses can be found on the Finnish language version of this website.
