Placement Test for Finnish Courses - Instructions for Applicants

All new applicants must take a placement test to determine the right course level. Please note that taking the test does not guarantee a study place, as seats are limited. Read the instructions below before starting.

What you need for the test

  • A computer (required for online courses)
  • Internet connection
  • Google account
  • Webcam and microphone (for the video task)
  • Speakers or headphones (for the dictation task)

Test Content

  • Reading a Finnish text on video
  • Writing task
  • Dictation task

The test runs in a regular internet browser without needing to download any software.

Time to Complete

You have 3 hours to complete the test.
The test must be submitted before the time runs out – late submissions will not be accepted.

Purpose and Conduct

The test is used to determine your correct course level.
It is important that your real language level is measured honestly.

Please complete the test independently:

  • Do not use dictionaries or translation tools
  • Do not ask for help

If you know very little or no Finnish, try to complete as much of the test as possible.The video and dictation parts are mandatory even for beginners.

Kaikkien uusien hakijoiden tulee tehdä tasotesti oikean kurssitason määrittämiseksi. Huomioithan, että testin tekeminen ei takaa opiskelupaikkaa, sillä paikkoja on rajoitetusti. Lue ohjeet huolellisesti ennen testin aloittamista.

Kokeen tekemiseen tarvitset

  • Tietokoneen (verkkokurssit edellyttävät tietokonetta)
  • Internet-yhteyden
  • Google-tilin
  • Webkameran ja mikrofonin (videotehtävää varten)
  • Kaiuttimet tai kuulokkeet (sanelutehtävää varten)

Koe toimii tavallisessa internet-selaimessa eikä vaadi ohjelmien lataamista.

Suoritusaika

Kokeen tekemiseen on aikaa 3 tuntia.
Koe täytyy palauttaa ennen ajan umpeutumista – myöhästyneitä vastauksia ei hyväksytä.

Kokeen tarkoitus on määrittää sinulle sopiva kurssitaso.
On tärkeää, että kielitaitosi mitataan rehellisesti ja oikein.

Suorita koe itsenäisesti:

  • Älä käytä sanakirjaa tai käännöstyökaluja
  • Älä pyydä apua

Jos osaat vain vähän tai et lainkaan suomea, vastaa silti mahdollisimman moneen tehtävään. Videotehtävä ja sanelu ovat pakollisia, myös aloittelijoille.
